Entertainment Spotlight: King's Lincoln Park
If you're familiar with Lincoln Park then you are also familiar with the land that used to be the home of New City YMCA. (just south of North/Clybourn shopping center- at the corner of Clybourn and Halsted.)When Cabrini Green was torn down in the 1990s, the YMCA has lost more than half of their members. In 2007, YMCA was demolished, and a development company bought the land. The project to build the "New City" (Complex) broke ground in 2013.
Kings of Lincoln park is one of the newest venues to open its doors at the "New City Complex". Kings is an entertainment venue featuring space for up to 550 guests, 16 ten-pin bowling lanes, a full-service restaurant, a game lounge, 222 foot bar, over 50 HDTV's and HD projector screens for all of the sports action. This venue is the perfect space to host your next family day out- the activites and venue are perfect to host kiddo's and parents alike!
This past week I had the pleasure of touring King's Lincoln Park for their "Family Blogger Event". It gave me the opportunity to get a sneak peak at the space, and well tell you all about it!
I entered Kings through the "speakeasy"; a Chicago classic, I was greeted by the smell of pizza cooked in a coal fired grill at Max & Cleos, and led through the "secret" doors in to the venue. The doors opened and immediately it was bright lights and the sound of bowling in the background and today's hits playing over the speakers. It was a true party vibe in there.
Once I moved to the "gaming" area I was so graciously greeted with a variety of beverages for Mama's and Kiddo's alike, along with bubbles, BUBBLES everywhere! A delightful treat mixed with the sounds of children playing on the air hockey, foosball, pool and shuffleboard tables.
I was surprised... surprised not only with how beautiful the space was, but also how kid friendly it is. Kids had the option of creating their own pizza, and a private two lane bowling room perfect for birthday parties. This place is not only for THE cool kid, but is ideal for hosting your childs next birthday or graduation party.
And then there is the food.... Where to begin... DELICIOUS! When writing about places and things to do I always highlight food, so I decided to order off of the menu separate from what they were offering to really give it a test drive. (It helped that I was hungry)
Kings Lincoln Park will be open Sunday - Thursday from 11 a.m. - midnight; Fridays and Saturdays from 11-2 a.m. The kitchen will be open daily from 11 a.m. until close.
At night, Kings Lincoln Park will transform into an "adult playground" for visitors over 21 with a late-night DJ and dance floor. The venue will offer full-service bars, where people can order craft cocktails and craft beers, among other beverages.
Kings currently has a location in Rosemont's MB Financial Park. The Lincoln Park location is Kings' eighth venue in the country. If you have ever had the pleasure of visiting the "Park" of Rosemont, you know that it instantly provides you with the feeling that you are on vacation. A retreat of sorts, park your car and head to the park- filled with a variety of restaurants, bars and even a Zanie's. The "park" is transformed depending upon the season, at christmas they have sledding and an ice rink!
This new Lincoln Park Location, along with the feel of the "New City" can definitely be made into a day long activity!
I mean who doesn't love to SHOP & PLAY?!?!?
A special THANK YOU- to King's for hosting this Mama!
